Christmas 2024 in Progress
I was struggling with ideas this year for what to make people for Christmas - most of my skills have already been put to use as previous Christmas presents. Then I thought maybe I'm over complicating things?
So, as my granddad has a knack of losing things I've made him a bright coloured key ring so he can *hopefully* find his keys at all times. A little bird told me that he has long lost the book mark I made for him last year and commandeered my nans so I have made him 5 new ones in different styles. They're basic bookmarks but they should do their job.
In addition to my granddads brightly coloured key ring, I have been making small key ring pouches which could hold a trolley token for example. I just think these are a little extra stocking filler for the females in my family.
Also for some of the females in my family, this year I'm making something that should be appropriate - phone covers! I found this amazing little book in The Works over 12 months ago and it's full of simple, mindful makes, called Conscious Crafts - Knitting by Sicgmone Kludje and Vanessa Koranteng. You can find it here: Conscious Crafts - Knitting Book This book has been so helpful to me!!
Whilst these may look a bit wonky, I assure you that they do not stay like this once there is a phone in them. I have also made one of these for myself in the past and it is currently being used as a glasses case!
I've still got a few more items to make and I haven't a clue what I'm going to make my mum yet as she has received most of what I can make one way or another.
*Update 7.11.24 - a few more items that I've made since I first posted this. I really like how the mix of these yarns/colours has turned out.
**Update 11.11.24 - A complete set for my daughter which hopefully won't be too embarrassing if she wants to wear it to school. Blue is her Hogwarts house colour ๐
***Update 20.11.24***
OK, given we have had an earlier than expected cold snap in the UK, I had no choice but to give my daughter her hat, scarf and fingerless gloves. So, instead I have made her a granny square bag as below. She loves this yarn so it had to be used for her โค๏ธ๐ฉท๐งก๐๐๐๐ฉต๐๐ค๐ค
This bag is for my mum, my first attempt at this style of bag and I'm very proud of it. One bag, two ways ๐
