Easy One Size Crochet Cardigan

I have searched and searched for an easy to make cardigan for a long time.  I'm still not overly confident in following patterns that require different techniques so I created my own.  It's made from 5 rectangles.

This pattern uses a very loose treble crochet stitch (UK terms) so it will fit pretty much everyone.  My 12 year old daughter who is a UK size 8 tried this on and it looked great but this was actually made for myself - a UK size 20!

To make this, you will need:

6.5mm crochet hook
200g DK yarn (I didn't use cotton yarn, which may require more)
Scissors
Measuring tape
Sewing needle

You can make this in any order but I used these measurements:

Back panel - chain 19 inches long and treble crochet (UK terms) until its 19 inches
Front panels (2) - chain 7 inches long and treble crochet (UK terms) until its 19 inches long
Sleeves (2) - chain 18 inches long and treble crochet (UK terms) until its 9 inches

Once you have made the pieces, lay the back panel on a flat surface with the front panels over the top - measure where you want to sew the sleeves on and use a stitch marker for this.

Sew the front panels on at the top of the back panel and then sew from your stitch marker down to the bottom of the back panel.  This should now look like a waist coat.

For the sleeves, you will firstly need to make them into a tube.  Next, attach the sleeve to the main body by sewing around the edge of the tube and onto the body.

That's it.  It's light weight and stretchy.  You can add your own design onto it too.
