Square Makes - 3 Square Cardigan

So my last make of 2025 was something I am very proud of.  I have made a few versions of this in the past but I wanted a winter warmer cardigan for myself.

This is really simple - if you can knit or crochet a square, you can make this cardigan!

In my version, I decided that I wanted to 'granny square' the main body of it but it can be many in any technique that you feel comfortable with.  The trick with this is all in the sewing and folding.

So, the main body is a big square - make this however big you like.  You can make this as a small cardigan to cover the shoulders or something bigger like mine is.  Take a look at the following photos for the next steps.

Fold the corners over to make a triangle on each side and sew like below.

Next, if you want to add sleeves to make it longer, measure the length from the end of the opening on the large square when its worn to your wrist - then make 2 identical squares.

The final part to this is sewing the sleeves onto the arm openings on the larger square - don't forget to sew up the smaller squares into a tube to make the sleeve.

Once you are happy with how the sleeves are placed on the body, it's finished.

I made mine 'over-sized' so it can be wrapped around me in the winter months but the beauty of this design is you can make this however you want - including without sleeves.
